i...like most crafters...suffer from an affliction. we hoard craft supplies. we stumble upon an insanely good sale at our local craft store and cannot help ourselves. we must partake. 'i'll use it. i WILL! i'll never find a deal this GOOD again.'
cut to me, forcing poor kate, who'd come in from london to lug THREE 48"x 24" canvases from michaels in chelsea to harlem, on a summer day.
i should ::cough:: probably ::cough:: saaaaaaay, that i don't paint. moving on. no regrets.
it has taken me a few months to figure out what i was going to do with them...but, figure it out, i have!
i'd been on the hunt for some fabric. not that i don't have any in the house, but it wasn't THE fabric...moving further along. i'd sort of backed myself up into a tight spot with the idea of triptych. and, then...there it was...in the basement of an anthro...in the hands of another woman (insert dramatic muzak)...a tablecloth. (tablecloth? you heard me.) MY tablecloth. 72" x 90" of perfection. juuuuust enough length to cover my canvases; (24" + 3" on each side) x 3 canvases.
i played it cool. she put it down. i picked it up.
i made it art.

and, for a bit of cheek...i kept the original tablecloth tag, and sewed it back on.
