a trip to brooklyn on a monday night is a schlepp. a haul. a pain for this manhattanite. but, recently, i had two good reasons to go. a friend of mine was playing at pete's candy store. (rock and roll!) ... and the food!
i've got a running list of restaurants in brooklyn, i'd like to get to. and, near the top of the list was sweet chick. i'd heard great things about sweet chick before my adventure, but i was a bit skeptical. southern food outside of the south can be iffy. good, but not authentic. interesting, but never 'hit the spot' guuuuuuuuu-uuuud. sweet chick does not disappoint.
my advice...eat anything with hot honey on it. (ask for it, if it's not on the menu!) get the kale b.l.t. salad and the pickle plate.
sweet chick's original location is in williamsburg, brooklyn. there's a new location on manhattan's lower east side.
what'd i eat?
// fried chicken with hot honey + bacon/cheddar waffle
// pan-roasted chicken with roasted cauliflower, carrots, and pan jus
// pickle plate (watermelon rind, carrots, okra, eggs, dill pickles)
// kale b.l.t. salad with house cured bacon
// hominy brussels sprouts
